We encourage you to reach out to your insurance provider to verify your health coverage. All visits are billed to your insurance provider. Self-pay options are also available. Ask a staff member for details.
Generally, all provider visits are covered. If a visit is denied, please let us know and we will work with you.
Many insurances have a “cap” on the total number of Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) appointments they will cover in a calendar year. These types of appointments include registered dietitians. If you don’t know what your insurance covers, please consider contacting them to prevent any surprise denials or bills.
There are no startup fees for our program.
Many insurances do NOT cover weight loss medications, which can be frustrating for patients. However, we understand this and, whenever possible, use low cost, generic alternatives, supply coupon cards, and try to keep the out-of-pocket cost to a minimum. Many generic equivalents run less than $10/month.
The cost of meal replacements will depend on the plan that choose. They are not covered by insurance. The ESTIMATED weekly cost would be between $35.00 - $58.00 before tax.
A referral is not required from your primary care provider or specialist. Patients may self-refer.
Our program is open-ended. Ultimately, we want to help you achieve healthy weight, which is different for every person. Ideally, it would be a BMI less than 30, but many factors determine these goals and we set them collaboratively with each patient.
We try to accommodate your schedule while maintaining the needed touch bases to support transformative lifestyle change. For some, that may mean meeting monthly, others every 6-8 weeks or longer depending on how the program is progressing. Typically, the visit types are varied so you may meet with a registered dietitian, then some weeks later a provider, and then return a few weeks after that for a meeting with a counselor or pharmacist.
We don’t like the term “diet.” A diet implies something you do to start losing weight and is continued for only a short time. We are here to help you learn how to live life in a healthy manner. This can include many different dietary types, but we want to partner with you to find a lifestyle that best suits both your lifestyle, and physiological needs to become healthy. We educate our patients on proper calories for their body and help you learn how to maintain that balanced lifestyle.
