Is your Garden exploding with Produce? Share the wealth!
Are you up to your ears in corn? Any bumper crops of tomatoes, peppers, squash or green beans in your world? If you have extra food to donate – now is the time! Don’t forget there are a lot of people that would be most grateful for your extra, fresh produce.
In May, I wrote about a regional initiative called “
Plant an Extra Row.” This was a call to action for our area growers and gardeners to consider planting a bit more to share. So if you’ve done that, or just by luck of the draw have extra produce to donate – here’s what you can do with your produce.
Friday, Sept. 19 has been designated as a “Day of Sharing.” These locations will gladly accept your excess produce and get it quickly to people in need.
