Consider planting just a little extra produce in your garden this year to share with others. The extra food you grow can be lovingly donated to people in need.
An area initiative is underway to “Plant a Row for the Hungry,” which will culminate in a Day of Sharing Harvest Celebration later this summer. You can donate the extra food you harvest to a food relief agency or soup kitchen of your choice, or you can bring it to the Day of Sharing Harvest Celebration. Announcements about the Day of Sharing Harvest Celebration date, location and food drop-off sites will be forthcoming. Stay tuned!
Thousands of folks in our area would benefit from your efforts because many households are short on supplies of fresh, healthy food. Our smallest, most vulnerable, population is the children who go hungry. Eating fresh, healthy produce is literally life-preserving.
Home gardeners, church groups, professional farmers, businesses, youth and community groups – here is your call to action. We know you are such a sharing bunch, so let’s harvest some HOPE by planting an extra row. Gardeners unite!
