For four years, Karen Hoag, a medical assistant with PPG – Rheumatology, has been caring for patient Sherman Scott.
“He’s just such a true, honest soul, and he’s that unconditional love that you’re always hunting for. He just becomes part of your family.”
Karen has become close with Sherman’s family as well, including his niece and primary caretaker, Jodie Wallace. Recently, the two came together to grant Sherman a very special birthday wish.

“He had a diagnosis and Jodie asked him, ‘If you could do anything, what would you want to do?’ And he thought for a minute, and he said, ‘I’d like to meet Elsa and Anna, and sing the snowman song.’”
Karen went to work making arrangements for the popular princesses to attend a surprise party in Sherman’s honor.
“I’m very close to my uncle,” Jodie said, “and he’s been a part of my life ever since I can remember. To see him have his dream come true today is just too much, and I’m very thankful.”
