Eight seniors awarded Albright Gemlick Scholarships
55 nominees honored from Class of 2025

Graduating seniors across the region were honored Tuesday, June 10, during the 2025 PSM Gemlick Scholarship banquet Parkview Mirro Center for Research & Innovation. Eight winners were received $8,000 scholarships – made possible by Parkview Health Foundation – for their academic excellence, athletic achievement and community engagement.
Student-athletes were nominated by PSM athletic trainers assigned to the students’ schools and by PSM Performance specialists who train the athletes. Winners are selected among the nominees by PSM Working Committee. This year, 55 nominees represented 32 high schools. Each nominee was recognized at the banquet with a video produced by the PSM Digital Outreach Team and a certificate from PSM.
Eligible student-athletes must participate in one sport their senior year and hold a grade point average of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or 9.0 on a 12.0 scale).
The Albright Gemlick Scholarships have been awarded since the 2003-04 school year, and bear the names of two late SportONE physicians: Dr. James E. Albright, who passed away in 1993; and Dr. Brett F. Gemlick, who passed away in October 2019.
Former Major League Baseball player Josh VanMeter, who graduated from Norwell High School and is PSM Baseball Academy Director, was the keynote speaker at the banquet.
Over 22 years, the Albright Gemlick Scholarships have totaled more than $300,000 to more than 100 winners.
2025 Albright Gemlick Scholarship Winner: Brynn Campbell of Snider High School
Brynn Campbell played basketball, volleyball, golf and ran track at Snider. In basketball, she was part of a Panther squad that won four-straight sectionals, a regional title and an Summit Athletic Conference championship; she earned Most Improved honors. She played volleyball for three seasons, earning an Offensive MVP award. She played one season of golf, earning the team Mental Attitude Award. At Snider, she was also part of the Student Biomedical Charity Council, National Honor Society, Indiana Academic All-Star, Rising Star of Indiana, a Distinguished Scholar and an Advanced Placement Scholar and Greater Fort Wayne, Inc. Best In Class. Brynn is also very active in the community as a team captain for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, a Fort Wayne Sister Cities International delegate to Plock, Poland and a member of both Pave The Path Leadership Development program and the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church youth group. Brynn earned a 4.81 GPA, ranking in the Top 10 of the Snider Class of 2025. She plans to study pre-med biological sciences in college.
2025 Albright Gemlick Scholarship Winner: Rebekah Morrison of Concordia Lutheran High School
Rebekah Morrison played volleyball for all four years at Concordia. She was a team captain and earned the team Mental Attitude award, Academic All-State honors, and represented the Cadets in the Beyond The Game Athletic Leadership program. Rebekah held several offices in Student Council, including class president. She was also a peer minister, a Koinonia student/staff ministry leader, an Empowering & Preparing Incoming Cadets mentor. She is also part of the National Honor Society and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Rebekah volunteers with Sources of Strength, the Community Harvest Food Bank, Concordia summer camps and various ministries at her church. Rebekah earned a 3.8 GPA and earned the Greater Fort Wayne, Inc. Best In Class distinction. She is heading to Indiana University, where she will study nursing.
2025 Albright Gemlick Scholarship Winner: Austin Sanders of Hicksville High School
Austin Sanders played baseball, basketball and football at Hicksville. In baseball, he earned 2nd Team All-Green Meadows Conference honors. In basketball, he was a team captain. He also was class president in student council and was a member of National Honor Society and the Envirothon Team. Austin also coaches Upwards Basketball, officiates in a youth football league, volunteers at the Christmas Cruise Thru, helped with landscaping at a local Lutheran church, and organized a charity powderpuff event. Austin plans to attend Akron University and study sports analytics—combining his love for sports (particularly baseball) and mathematics.
2025 Albright Gemlick Scholarship Winner: Elizabeth Schmidt of East Noble High School
Liz Schmidt played soccer and competed in gymnastics at East Noble. In soccer, she was a team captain who earned KPC All-Area Honorable Mention, team Most Improved Player, team leadership award and Academic All-State. In gymnastics, she was a captain who won the team Mental Attitude and Dedication awards, while qualifying for the IHSAA Regional as a sophomore. She also served as a manager for boys volleyball the last two seasons. Liz is active in a variety of organizations, as well: National Honor Society, Athletic Leadership Council, Student Organ Donation Advocates, American Cancer Society, Miss Limberlost, Humane Society of Noble County, Salvation Army, and Noble House Ministries women & children center. Liz earned a 4.0 GPA and plans to study nuclear medical technology at Indiana University Indianapolis.
2025 Albright Gemlick Scholarship Winner: Jaiya Corn of Southwood High School
Jaiya Corn is a distance runner in cross country and track & field at Southwood. She was team captain of the cross country team her junior and senior seasons and earned the top distance runner award on the track team. She is also very involved with performing arts at Southwood, playing in the band, jazz band and pep band. Outside of school, Jaiya is active in 4-H and youth group at her church. She earned a 3.9 GPA and plans to attend Hope College, where she will study psychology.
2025 Albright Gemlick Scholarship Winner: Anna Ruble of Fort Wayne Sport Club & Bellmont High School
Anna Ruble was a standout soccer player at Bellmont High School, where she was earned All-Northeast 8 Conference Honorable Mention and Academic All-State honors, and was a team captain as a senior. As a team, Bellmont won four-straight sectional championships and two Northeast 8 Conference titles. She was also a manager for the Bellmont wrestling team and ran track for one year. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Club. Anna plays soccer at Fort Wayne Sport Club, where her positive attitude and work ethic in team sports performance training with PSM earned her a nomination for an Albright Gemlick Scholarship. Anna continues to grow the game of soccer boy reffing youth soccer for Decatur Parks & Recreation, and coaching at The Outreach Program For Soccer and Muddy River Futsal. She volunteers at multiple assisted living centers in Adams County and Honor Flight Northeast Indiana. She is active in various parish ministries at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur. Anna graduated with a 4.0 GPA, earning three academic letters at Bellmont. She plans to attend Purdue University and study either exercise science.

2025 Albright Gemlick Scholarship Winner: Eli Bone of Northfield High School Eli Bone played baseball for three years during his time at Northfield, earning Three Rivers Conference Academic All-Conference. He also was a manager for the Norse football team for four seasons. At Northfield, Eli is also a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, and MSD of Wabash County Superintendent Advisory Team. Eli gives back to the community by helping kids in need shop during Operation Christmas Spirit, volunteering at a local animal shelter, BABE of Wabash, the elementary school Children’s Book Walk, and the Mississinewa 1812 living history event. Eli is also active in First Fridays at The Access Youth Center and Serve Sundays at Wabash First United Methodist Church. Eli earned a 4.0 GPA. He plans to attend Butler University and study health sciences.
2025 Albright Gemlick Scholarship Winner: Ferdinand Asende
(Carter Fleck Memorial Scholarship)
Each year, PSM awards the Carter Fleck Memorial Scholarship as part of the Albright Gemlick Excellence Scholarships. The award is named for Carter Fleck, a 17-year-old Homestead High School who passed away from cancer in 2016. The Carter Fleck Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a nominee who demonstrates exceptional character. The 10th annual Carter Fleck Memorial Scholarship goes to Ferdinand Asende of South Side High School.
Ferdinand Asende was a standout soccer player at South Side, where he was team captain for the last two years and named team defensive MVP. He ran track this past year. He was also selected to represent South Side at the Beyond The Game Leadership program. Ferdinand was also part of South Side’s French club, the French Honor Society, robotics club, and student advisory committee. Outside of school, he was part of the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne’s Youth Empowered Philanthropy program, a student group tasked with awarding charitable grants to community organizations. Ferdinand was raised in the Nyarugusu refugee camp in Tanzania and shares in his application that, at the age of 9, he took on the responsibility of finding food for his family in local forests and farms. Ferdinand came to the United States in 2018, moved to Fort Wayne, learned English, graduated from South Side with a 3.91 GPA, and will study business administration at Indiana Wesleyan University.
