FORT WAYNE, IND. – JULY 11, 2022 – A new pediatric endocrinology clinic on the Parkview Southwest campus will allow the region’s children to receive specialty care close to home.
When it opens on Aug. 1, Parkview Physicians Group (PPG) – Pediatric Endocrinology will be the only clinic of its kind in northeast Indiana. The clinic will meet a large need in the area, serving children with diabetes and obesity, as well as adrenal, bone, growth, thyroid and other endocrine disorders.
“Area families will no longer need to travel several hours to see a pediatric endocrinologist, making care much more convenient and easier to coordinate with their local providers,” said Patti Brahe, senior vice president, Women’s and Children’s Services, Parkview Health. “We know the complexity of endocrine disorders can be overwhelming for both children and their parents. So we are excited that PPG – Pediatric Endocrinology will make it easier for them to manage their needs with highly specialized care.”
David Segal, MD, is now accepting appointments and will see patients in the new clinic beginning Aug. 1. Dr. Segal is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology, and he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Endocrinology. He is returning to the United States after 20 years, having previously established the largest pediatric diabetes and endocrine practice in South Africa.
PPG – Pediatric Endocrinology is located on the Parkview Southwest campus at 8028 Carnegie Blvd., Suite 500, Fort Wayne. The clinic is part of an existing medical office building that is being remodeled into the Parkview Southwest Women's and Children’s Health Center. When complete, this location will include PPG OB/GYN and midwifery clinics, pediatric echocardiogram, and pediatric general and specialty care clinics.
Also on the Parkview Southwest campus, a three-story specialty outpatient center is being constructed at the southeast corner of Illinois Road and Glencarin Boulevard. This facility will include an emergency room and additional specialty clinics, expanding access to some of the most commonly needed outpatient care for patients in southwest Fort Wayne. All construction and renovations on the campus are expected to be complete in late 2023.
Children may need a referral to be seen at PPG – Pediatric Endocrinology, so parents are advised to contact their primary care provider before making an appointment. For more information, call 260-266-5400.
